Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic I will keep a possibility of scalp seborrheic dermatitis. It usually presents as dry, flaky and itchy patches on scalp. The condition is a result of interplay between factors like overgrowth of malassezia furfur, a yeast and scalp inflammation. The cream that you have been using is just a moisturizing cream and not specific for seborrheic dermatitis. If I was the treating doctor I would have asked you to use an antifungal antidandruff shampoo e.g Ketoconazole based shampoo, daily or every alternate days. In addition to the shampoo I also ask my patients to use a topical steroid lotion e.g mometasone furoate, once or twice daily. Seborrheic dermatitis is a steroid responsive condition and most patients respond to this treatment protocol. Topical steroids may be discontinued once significant improvement has been achieved. Thereafter the improvement may be maintained with an antifungal shampoo, used either daily or every alternate days. Regards
