How Can Ear Blockage, Sore Throat With Flu Like Symptoms Be Treated?

Hi - I have had flu symptoms and a really sore throat since Wednesday. On Friday my ears became blocked (they feel similar to when people get ear propblems on a flight) and I can't get them unblocked through normal means (yawning, pushing air out etc). I've been taking paracetemol and now anti-inflammatory tablets from the chemist) Someone suggested olive oli - will that help?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that due to flu and sore throat there has been infection in ear leading to fluid accumulation behind the ear drum leading to blocked and congested feeling in the ears..
As the throat and ears are connected via Eustachian tube there is a possibility that the infection in throat and post nasal drip can lead to infection and fluid accumulation in ears..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated...
In case if there is fluid accumulation manual drainage can be established and along with it you will be advised antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkillers, oral and nasal decongestants..
