Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I tested positive for the flu strain A two weeks ago and started taking tamiflu. Last week I started feeling symptoms of severe congestion and ear ache and was diagnosed with acute ear infection and given oral antibiotics. I am almost done with my antibiotics but this morning I started feeling a moderate sore throat on one side, mild headache in front of head and my ear started draining pus. I have also developed a non-productive cough. Should I wait this out and continue antibiotics?
Just use salt water gargling and water vapour inhalation thrice a day for five days. Use tablet Alday DC twice a day for five days. Avoid cool drinks and cool environment. Also, avoid allergen.
If still no improvement, then you need to start antibiotics. Now, sputum production may be due to you developed respiratory tract infection. Please consult your physician, h/she will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
