How Can Ear Infection Be Treated?

I have ear infection and was prescribed amoxicillin since Friday and today is Monday but I have not seen improvement in the treatment. I still feel as if my right ear has some water inside. I was earlier given Zithromax that is when the problem started. should I continue taking the antibiotic until I finish the dose maybe I will get some relief?

Hello,

It looks like there is an ear infection and it is the cause of fluid formation behind the ear drum leading to the feeling of water inside the ear. You should continue taking the antibiotics as it is must to reduce infection and it will further help in reducing the fluid accumulation as the infection will subside.

You should also start using a decongestant nasal spray like Xylometazoline as to reduce the congestion and clogged feeling in ear. In case if the condition does not resolve, then at times you might need manual drainage of the ear so that the fluid is drained off and if needed pressure equalization tubes can also be placed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora
