How Can Ear Infection In A Child Be Treated?

Hi, My 12 year old daughter needs a Tympanoplasty, due to a large hole touching the bone from tubes being placed at 7 months old. She has an infection now that has been draining for 7 days now. She was prescribed ear drops and since not clearing up they want to suction it out. Is this necessary? her ears are so sensitive. If I continue with the ear drops do you think it will clear up on its own?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

As there is a large hole over tympanum, kindly go for tympanoplasty as advised. Till now continue antibiotic ear drops and take steam. You can take tab. Tylenol for pain, but treat it as early as possible as chances of meningitis in untreated cases. There is less chance to clear with only ear drops.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
