General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

According to details provided by you, the condition you are suffering seems to be allergic rhinitis which is seasonal type.

Symptoms of allergic rhinitis are seen in nose, throat, ears, eyes, so you are experiencing sore throat due to chronic pharyngitis associated with chronic rhinitis and earache due to blockage of Eustachian tube or infection of middle ear.

It is better to get your differential blood count and nasal smear to know the count of eosinophils and skin tests to know the type of allergen causing the condition.

To avoid the condition during flu season, you can do:
1. Avoiding exposure to the allergen, especially to morning cool breeze which carries the pollen (allergens)
2. Avoiding exposure to pets if you are allergic
3. To avoid smoking if you are a chronic smoker as it aggravates the condition
4. Change the place of work or your job if exposure to dust is present
5. Steam inhalation and warm salt water gargling are effective

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhaskar
