Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 33 year old female that has had cardiomyopathy in the past due to chemotherapy. Lately I can feel my heart beat as if it is coming out of my chest. I had an echocardiogram in May and it came back normal. I took some b12 today and now I can feel my heart racing as if it will beat out of control. what should I do
Hello, Thank you for asking your question at health care magic.
Symptoms of racing heart/ fast heartbeat especially in the context of history of cardiomyopathy need to be evaluated for cardiac arrhythmias (irregular electrical activity of the heart ).There are several other causes of increased heart rate like hyperthyroidism, anxiety, fever, medications etc and treatment of tachycardia depend on the cause.
I recommend that you need to go to the emergency room as soon as possible. You will need ECG taken and further investigations depending on initial ECG findings.
Hope I was able to answer your question. Please feel free to address any more concerns Regards, Dr.Lekshmi
