When I am in a stressful cituation some times my heart rate can go even 115-120 . But tonight I had no stress at all and is 110 right now. Now I am afraid to go to sleep. I took my medication earlier for my blood pressure. I am 70 years old . Thank you

Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

It is normal for the heart rate to get raised when you get nervous or anxious.
However, in your case, you say to take medication for high blood pressure (bp). The most important thing is to keep your bp under control.

I advise to monitor your bp, record the results as a reference. You might need changes in the dosage of the meds you are currently taking.

I also advise to avoid taking coffee in the afternoon, better in the morning.
Take chamomile tea before going to bed at night. Supplements containing valeriana, aloe vera, magnesium, etc. can help stabilize your nervous system and heart rate too.

If you did not run any cardiac check recently, I advise to make an appointment with your cardiologist and check your hear through:
- ECG
- Holter monitoring
- echocardiogram

or any other test that your cardiologist would think would be beneficial for you.

Hope this helps.
