How Can Elevated Liver Enzymes Be Treated?

I have a bladder infection and have taken nitrofuratoin in the past - however I now have a liver issue (still undiagnosed) that is causing high liver enzymes. The liver condition maybe Auto Immune Hepatitis. Is this antibiotic safe for me. Thanks, TJ

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice

I need to know how much your liver enzymes has been Elevated.Mild rise cannot be much troublesome. Fatty liver, viral hepatitis etc like condition also has to be ruled out. USG abdomen scan, Hbsag ELISA testing and HCV antibody testing also can be done. If than needed antibody work up can be done to rule out autoimmune hepatitis.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
