How Can Elevated Liver Enzymes During Pregnancy Be Treated?

My daughter was diagnosed as bi-polar a number of years ago. Lithium was prescribed, but she stopped taking it due to impact on her liver. Then when she decided to become pregnant, she was advised that lithium was safest for the baby so she resumed it. Now she is seeing elevated liver enzymes. She s about 5 months.

Hello

Thank you for trusting HCM

Dear lithium induced hepatitis may be treated by reducing the dose of lithium with regular follow ups of liver enzymes . If it is Severe liver damage better to stop the drug.

Hepatitis E and cholistasis in the pregnancy also common . Just rule out it . If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care
