How Can Epigastric Pain Due To Partial Bowel Obstruction Be Treated?
I have been diagnosed with a partial bowel obstruction due to adhesions which flares up every month and causes epigastric pain which lasts for 1 - 3 days. I have been hopsitalized for this condition over the years (20). I ve been told nothing can be done about this, I will have to live with these bouts for the rest of my life. I am having an attack now and am trying to rest the bowel by using a hot water bottle resting on my belly. My question is can anything be done to stop these pains. Also my doctor prescribed Dicyclomine. How does this medication help my condition?

When bowel obstruction present there can be chance of more cramping....
So you are given dicyclomine that is useful as antispasmodic drug....
For adhesion after your examination if possible adhesiolysis can be one of the treatment by endoscopy....
Avoid excess spicy foods....
So consult surgeon if surgical correction possible
