I am a 59 y/old white female experiencing increased facial hair groth and ingrown hairs around eyebrows and forehead over the past 9 years. MVA in 2000 with multiple disc injuries in cervical, lumbar and sacral spine as well as head trauma. Currently experiencing increased cognitive ineffiency, extreme fatigue and depression. The facial hair thing has led to isolation and diminished interest in outside activities. I think I m even depressing my dog! Laser hair removal (Lumessniss dual laser) not effective possibly due to thickening of skin causing deeper hair growth and diminished ability to shred dead hair. Any diagnostic insight
Many women gradually develop varying amounts of unwanted facial hair as they get older. The nature has a cruel sense of humor when it comes to where hair grows in women when they age.
Waxing is probably the best choice of hair removal in these type of cases. There is a medication called eflornithine hydrochloride topical which is used to slow down the growth of unwanted hair on the face.
Please talk to your doctor for a prescription of this medicine.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Prabhash Verma, General & Family Physician
