Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter at 54 is very attention seeking actually making up illnesses for herself and exaggerating both her own and her husbands. She has done this since a teenager and as a young mother was very dramatic with both her children s real and not so real medical problems. Her sister thinks she has a facticious disorder - she is easy to anger, and cannot put a name to any illness she has but talks about it in a generalized manner. About ten years ago she DID have most of a lung removed from Valley Fever - her attention seeking anfd drama has only gotten worse since then. How can we help her?
As you describe it can be a part of her character since she had it all her life. Also, being in menopause can exaggerate this problem. I can suggest you consult a psychologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
