We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, yes you are on correct treatment. Metformin can help with both HbA1c derangement and fatty liver disease.
Other options include fats and lipids restrictions as well as very low sugar intake and avoidance of processed foods. Life style modifications and walks or strenous exercise can help. All these should be complimented with good hydration and water intake.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin,
General & Family Physician
