How Can Fecal Impaction Be Treated?

I am having a problems emptying my rectum and colon. Each time I have a bowel movement there seems to be more stool remaining. I have been wearing a “Depend” which is ok, but after awhile more stool comes down later without me trying to relieve myself. I think I have finished and there is still stool remaining.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Chronic constipation can lead to fecal impaction and bowel incontinence. Digital removal of the impacted fecal matter can relief the acute problem. After that, you need to follow a high fiber diet, drink plenty of water, exercise regularly and take an over the counter laxative like Miralax to avoid constipation.
