How Can Fever Along With Body Chills And Diarrhea Be Treated?

Hi, My son lives out of state from me. Calling as he was home sick today. Fever, chills, some pain in side, throwing up, diarrhea. He has been drinking plenty, but not going to the bathroom for 4+ hrs. Just dribbled a bit of urine, clear, but minimum amount. I told him to get in and be seen. Does this sound right?

Hello Dear. May be your son might have had food poisoning or Gastro-enteritis. Now the main mode of treatment is treatment for fever as well as prevention of dehydration due to vomiting and diarrhoea.

Ask your son to take plenty of water, fruit juice, tender coconut water etc. Also he can take ORS. Ask him to mix a packet of ORS powder in a litre of water and drink it slowly bit by bit. This will prevent dehydration.

Also he can take some over the counter drug for fever like paracetamol.

If he is not feeling better even after doing all these ask him to consult a physician.

For the time being nothing to worry and his symptoms can be treated with home remedies as i suggested.
