Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter is 6 years old. She was treated for the flu 2 weeks ago. last week her fever spiked to 102.8 so we went back in to the doctor where they diagnosed her with an upper respiratory infection and bronchitis. She was given a chest X-Ray and was told that it looked clear. They prescribed albuterol, budesonide and Azithromycin. It is day 5 and she has finished her antibiotics but her fever is still ranging from 100.0 to 100.8. Negative for flu and strep.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I presume that the diagnosis is correct and your daughter has bronchitis. The choice of antibiotic is not bad although I would have preferred a combination of Amoxycillin and Clavulanate which is more effective in bronchitis. Duration of the illness may vary depending on the immunity of the person.
So I'll request you to see the doctor again for further management. I hope it helps! Regards, Dr. Prabhash Verma
