How Can Fever Along With Dry Cough Be Treated?

Hello, i am just coming out of a fever and chill with a heavy dry cough. My chest and ribs are sensitive and ache. I have spent the last two days in bed and feel much better, but am a little concerned about the aches in my chest cavity and back. I also had a really bad cold and cough about a month ago that landed me in bed for a few days and wondering if this is connected to that cold. I m wondering if i should visit a doctor or just continue to get rest and lots of fluids? Thanks, melissa

Hi,

According your history and your symptoms I think is a viral infection. You should continue to get rest use a lots of fluids, fruits and take ibuprofen for fever and pain and cough syrup. Chest and ribs are ache because the heavy cough. If you continue to have more than 4-5 days fever and cough you should meet a doctor and do an chest radiography to exclude an bacterial complication or underlying reason for cough.

I hope my answer help you. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wish you a quick recovery.

Regards,
Dr. Monika Dede
