How Can Fever And Chills In A Child Be Treated?

Female child age 6; started running fever with chills; took temp 1 hour ago and it was 101.3; gave her 7.5ml of chil drens fever and pain relief; took it again just now and it was 102.3. At what point do we consider this serious and what steps do we take then?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You child is having high grade fever with chills. Mostly, it will be a viral fever and in that high grade fever can occur. Symptomatic management done for that Paracetamol SOS can be prescribed for fever.
If you need paracetamol injection can also be prescribed.
Your CBC gas to be done first to check lymphocytosis or neutrophilia if present.
