General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Fever and cough can happen quite often in children especially if they are in day care and in contact with many other children.
If the fever lasts less then 3-4 days and the child recovers well within a week from the symptoms it means that the child is having a good reaction and is healthy.
If the fevers last longer then 3-4 days, the child seems very sick or needs hospital admissions then important conditions like cystic fibrosis or conditions that might effect the heart or the immune system might be considered.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
