Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 4 year old was given amoxicillin 400mg Monday morning. She has had 4 doses. She is still running a fever around 101-101-8. Is this normal? Anoxicilin does not work for her when she has ear infections but her peds doc said for strep it should be fine.
Your child's fever might be related to a viral illness or to a strep throat infection, to decide the right diagnosis a physical examination is necessary. Fever in this cases can continue for some days. I suggest you complete the Amoxicillin treatment for the time that your doctor suggested you.
You also can give him Ibuprofen, because it helps to relieve fever.
If your child has no improvement after the treatment or gets worse, I suggest you consult the pediatrician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Suela Gjata,
