How Can Fever In A Toddler Be Treated?

My 2 year old has had a fever for two days now. I’ve given him ibuprofen and it seems to work for a small amount of time. His fever doesn’t go too much over 101, but it’s been persistent for 48 hours. He is also not in the best of spirits, but he’s not terrible he has his moments of energy. Should I seek any medical attention or just monitor him?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It looks like a viral syndrome, if he is active and has no other symptoms, it's ok to monitor him for another day.
You can continue giving him Ibuprofen 3 times a day, you can also give him Tylenol 3 hours after giving ibuprofen.
Give also plenty of fluids.
If he doesn't improve, then you have to take him to a doctor to check for tonsillitis.
