I can under your anxiety. It is a painful thing that your grandson was suffering from CHD. This is a problem in structure of heart since birth. Prognosis is generally good with treatment. Sometimes it can improve without treatment.
In some people CHD can lead to endocarditis the main symptom of which is fever. So you have to check for endocarditis (inflammation of inner layer of heart).

You have send your grandson's blood sample for
1. blood culture to idetify any bacteria or fungus in blood stream.
2. complete blood picture
3. ECG
4. EKG monitors to know any signs of endicarditis

Coming to treatment part
1. antibiotic (vancomycin or ampicillin sulbactam)
2. aminoglycoside can be given
3. if any damage is there surgey will be prefer

Don't get worried, but act as soon as possible as it may lead to seroius complications. Hoping for a speedy recovery.
