How Can Fibromyalgia And Osteoarthritis Be Treated?

I suffer from a severe case of fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis. I have had 2 total knee replacements within 3 months of each other 6 years ago. I have been having a terrible time walking with my right leg and told my by orthopedic surgeon that it is not from my knee but probably from my hip. Xrays showed that I do have arthritis in my hip (as well as the rest of my body). He suggested I might need hip replacement. My question to you is the pain I suffer from 24/7 is around my knee and goes around my calf and down to my shin and top of my foot and toes. Is this related to my right hip?

hi sir/mam,as you had undergone knee replacement 6yrs back, the following are the probable causative factors of your symptoms:
1)loosening or wearing of the implant.
2)patellofemoral(knee cap) problems.
3)implant alignment disturbances.
as the x-ray suggests, your hip joint may have osteoarthritis.it usually presents as
1)hip pain
2)reduction in range of movements of hip
3)sometimes it can also cause knee pain due to nerve impingement.
4)pain in the hip compels you to limp which strains your knee and calf muscles leading to pain.
thorough knee examination by an ortho specialist is required to rule out any knee implant related pathology which you had already completed.so,if you are not satisfied, you can go for a second opinion.when all the above factors are ruled out, fibromyalgia can be attributed to your symptoms.for temporary pain relief, analgesics like NSAIDs(aceclofenac, ibuprofen etc).acetaminophen are considered.hope my answer clarifies your doubt.any other queries, please do write to us.thank you.take care.bye.
