How Can Fibromyalgia Be Treated?

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about 21 years ago. Have been on imipramine 25 mg, and I always had a very functionable life. I exercise at silver sneakers a couple of times a week. I am very active, but in the past month, every muscle in my body is very painful. What is this?

Hi,

There several classes of drugs which can be used for Fibromyalgia as pain-relievers (usually non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines), anti-seizure medicines (as gabapentin) and antidepressants(as duloxetine, amitriptyline).

You may discuss with your treating physician to look for alternative medicines which may better suit your symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ajay Panwar, Neurologist
