Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I am doing a slight research on flogging/whipping scars. More or less on how to treat them. If a person receives around 30 lashes on the back, what would you have to do to save that said person? How to treat the wounds and not get them infected?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Flogging can cause skin bruises to lacerations & deep injuries. Depending on the type & severity of the wounds it will take 2-6 weeks for healing.
The main aim of managing is the prevention of infection & relieve pain. Ice bag used on the beginning helps. Keep the skin clean & dry. Avoid soiling with dust or dirt to prevent infection.
Over the counter pain pills like Ibuprofen would help for pain. An antibiotic ointment or oral medication to be done under the care of your family physician... in case there is infection/ increase in trouble.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale,
