How Can Fluctuating BP Readings Through Out The Day Be Treated?

I am normally healthy, active 57 year old. Thin and work out 3-4 days a week. Genetic heart issues. Today I wasn t feeling well and asked school nurse to check my blood pressure. It was 176 over 97. Decided to wait until after lunch and check again. It was 197 over 100. I teach school and couldn t reach my regular after 3. Should I be concerned? Think it can wait until Monday to address?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You should check your blood pressure twice daily in the mornings and evenings. I think you may be suffering from high blood pressure. Keeping it under control with proper medications is very important. Don't neglect it.

The treatment may be with antihypertensive medications such as diuretics or beta blockers used as first-line treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka,
