had a bout of barley allergy, i.e. food poisoning. last week caused by little debbie coconut doughnuts this week by nature s own honey wheat. with every thing coming out the top, what comes out the bottom has stalled, knoted and is bloted. if i can get moving i figure any left over barly will leave and i ll inprove. two days and to sapositories and its moving slowly. look into probiotics but thats confusing. suggestions?
Food poisoning will clear by itself in 3 to 4 days, but the main point to keep in mind is hydration. You need to see that you don’t go into dehydration because of repeated vomiting and diarrhea. You can consult a doctor who may give you tablet Loperamide 3 times a day to stop diarrhea and tablet domperidone 3 times a day to stop vomiting. If there is diarrhea with blood or mucus or if there is suspicion of amoebic dysentry the doctor may start on tablet Flagyl.
Also for hydration the doctor will give ORS packets which have to be mixed in 1 liter of water and you should keep drinking it. If the diarrhea and vomiting is not subsiding with oral medications you may have to be put on IV fluids in the hospital.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Sanjay Kini
