How Can Frequent Urination Be Treated?

Taking care of a 82 year old woman with LBD. She sleeps on and off all day. At night she is up and down all night saying she has to urinate. Her 86 year old husband is with her at night. Is there any way to keep her awake more during day so she would not awaken at night. She has been checked for urinary tract infection and does not have one. What makes it more difficult is that she has had low blood sodium and loss use of her legs and is in wheel chair.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Her urinary bladder problems are behavioural problems that come due to her main disease LBD.
I think bladder controling medications cant help.
Colinesterase inhibitors donepezil, rivastigmine, exelon can help LBD.
A consult with neurologist and geriartrist is recommended.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
