How Can Genital Herpes And Bacterial Vaginitis Be Treated?
Good morning doctor, I have recently been diagnosed with Genital herpes and bacterial vaginitis the Valtrex I was given the blisters are heeling up. There are some that are still red, painful and open, these blisters are located under my vagina where my thigh and buttocks meet, that don’t seem to want to heal, I feel it’s because those are the ones that come in contact with the BV discharge. Those are the only ones still bothering me and it makes it hard for me to walk as well. Is there any cream I can get that can help those heal faster or protect them from the discharge while they heal on their own?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
There are a number of reasons why your lesions are not healing. It would be a good idea to do the following:
1) Check your blood sugar levels. Diabetes often causes delayed healing. 2) Get your WBC count checked. A decreased WBC could imply that your immune system is not functioning like it should be. 3) Keep the general area clean and dry at all times. 4) Get your doctor to advise you on antibiotics for the bacterial vaginosis. 5) You could try using a sanitary pad also to keep the area dry.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan
