How Can Gestational Diabetes Be Treated?

I am 6th weeks pregnant. I take metformin 500mg twice for diabetes. After taking metformin and after 2 hours breakfast I tested my blood sugar and it was 9.8, is it harmful for my pregnancy? I am really worried because I had two times miscarriages. can I take insulin injection?

Hello,

Making changes in your diet is very important to keep your blood sugar in control.

Physical activity lowers your blood glucose level, so regular exercise can be an effective way to manage gestational diabetes.

As your pregnancy progresses, you will need antidiabetics and metformin is antidiabetic to start with.

Metformin 500 mg twice daily is completely ok. You should maintain a chart of your blood sugar reading in fasting state and 2 hours after your breakfast so that the right doses can be given.

You can take insulin, so talk to your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
