Hi I m 32 weeks pregnant and diagnosed with GD in 29th week. I m on insuline now 10 inits before lunch nd 10 units before dinner. I m on diet. For 2 days my sugar was in reference range. But now again it boosts up. I took betnesol injection as prescribed my Dr. And then after my all sugar readings r beyond reference range. Please advice me.
Hello, Madam, Gestational diabetes is mainly treated with Insulin and dietary control. Usually a small dose of Insulin (6 to 10 units) is enough to control glucose levels. But if you have taken Betnesol injection, which increases blood glucose levels, then dose of insulin has to be increased for some days or till its effects last. Betnesol being a corticosteroid has diabetogenic action. Increasing the dose of insulin will bring down the glucose level. Thanks.
