I am 55 years old, just had an eye specialist exam yesterday and was diagnosed with the beginnings of Glaucoma and Cataracts. I scheduled the exam because when I read the exam chart with only my L eye, I have to look at the next letter to read the letter that I am supposed to be seeing. The letter I am supposed to be reading is covered by a blind spot, I do this the entire row across. When I asked the doctor about the blind spot, which, by the way, only started 6 mos ago, he said that is normal and everyone has a blind spot. I had strabismus sx in that eye when I was 26 years old. He also said my nerve in my L eye is smaller than my R. I have another appt in a few mos and would like to know if the nerve is already showing damage and if this can be reversed. I plan on getting a second opinion after my next appointment but I would value any input from you as well. Thank you.
