How Can Glaucoma In The Eyes Be Treated?

I have severe stage glaucoma in both of my eyes. I heard that glucosamine is not a good thing for people with glaucoma. Is this true? If I should stop taking glucosamine, is there any harm in just stopping cold turkey or should I wean myself off of it. I take glucosamine and chondroitin daily for knee and hip pain. Thank you.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You can take Glucosamine and Chondroitin when you are having glaucoma as they doesn't worsen your glaucoma symptoms. Consult an ophthalmologist and treat glaucoma at the earliest as glaucoma can cause irreversible vision loss.

Wishing all the best.

Thanks.
