Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I have just found out that I have gonorrhoea but I’m not sure when it’s from and I’m worrried it has turned into Disseminated gonococcal infection. I have all the symptoms for it including; fever, aching of my back, joints and neck! I have been given treatment for gonorrhoea. I was just wondering what I should do now?
I do not know which treatment has been started to you. My suggestion is Ceftriaxone 250 mg intramuscular (IM) single dose, and Azithromycin 1 g oral single dose, this is first line regimen.
Also, the male partner should be scrutinized and investigated for gonococcal infection and treated accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Hiren Hirpara
