How Can Hair Loss Caused By Levothyroxine Be Treated?
Yes, hello. I am currently taking Levotyroxin for hypothyroid problems. I am loosing a lot of hair and want to stop taking it. I had my blood work yesterday and the results were normal. Free T4 was 1.13 ng/do and the Tsh4 was 4.125 mcIU/ml. I am a 75 year old female with an implanted AICD for congestive heart failure. Needless to say I take all the good heart meds available (imdur, Carvedilol, Crestor, zetia, aspirin, CO Q 10, and fish oil. I want to find out what is causing my hair loss and I was told that Levothroxin can cause it initially but that the little sis of hair should return to normal after a couple of months. I have been on Levothyroxin for nearly two years and just take 1/2 of a second 50mcg tablet every morning. Could it be one of the other tablets?
