How Can Hearing Loss Be Treated?

I wqas at the shooting range today and when I was finished my hearing is much worse than before. I have been hard of hearing for over 20 years. Today, not the first time I have been shooting, I was wearing ear protection. Once or twice a shooter far to my left shot while I did not have protection on. Do I need to see a Doctor or will it come back on its own?

Hi,

Sudden loud sounds that too close to your ear can damage your eardrum causing perforation. This will damage your hearing and needs proper treatment.

So my suggestion is to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated. An otoscopy of the ear can be done to rule out the exact cause of the loss of hearing.

If there is inflammation or small perforation then antibiotics ear drops can help in improvement. Also if the perforation is large then it has to be surgically repaired.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
