Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve had this for at least2 years. I ve been told it is some kind of (I think} a hernia. It feels like it buldges when I use my stomach muscels thaTt it protrudes some. They say they don t do anything unless it hurts. Well at times now it does hurt. I don t have a six pack but I call it a thurmas (sp) Have any information for me?????
From your description, if the location of your bulge is at your belly button, it is called an umbilical hernia.
In most cases, it doesn't require treatment, but if it is causing you pain then I would suggest that you get it corrected. If you bulge is near your genital area, it is called inguinal hernia.
If it is an inguinal hernia, you should get it repaired as it can get strangulated and create complications.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saralkumar R. Desai, General & Family Physician
