Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I might have herpes 2. Doctor took blood test today. If micronazole cream helps some and if in 12 hrs the fluconazole stops itching could I still have had herpes? Doctor said no signs of herpes today albeit it has been about a week but only 4 days if unbearable itching and burning. Could it be yeast infection with no discharge? I felt bumps at bottom of virgina on Friday and my hysband didn t see anything. Herpes? A nurse practitioner on Saturday said I had herpes.
Genital herpes may cause pain, itching; lesions may be present in varying stages, including vesicles. Herpetic ulcerations may resemble skin ulcerations of other etiologies.
HSV infection is best confirmed in the laboratory by detection of virus, viral antigen, or viral DNA in scrapings from lesions.
The most commonly used serologic assays are those that measure antibodies to glycoprotein G of HSV-1 (gG1) and HSV-2 (gG2).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Tushar Kanti Biswas,
