Hello. Thank you for writing to us
Herpes Zoster/ Shingles can resolve with Post-inflammatory
Hyperpigmentation.
Post-inflammatory Hyperpigmentation /PIH, is a non-specific reaction to any inflammatory insult to the skin.
For pigmentation I suggest a topical pigment lightening with a cream containing one or more of the following ingredients e.g Kojic acid,
hydroquinone, arbutin etc. That should be effective in erasing the marks.
Persistent pain after herpes has healed is known as Post-Herptic Neuralgia (PHN) and is due to nerve scaring; PHN may last for weeks or months after the lesions of herpes have resolved.
Treatment options for PHN include NSAID's like Ibuprofen, Diclofenac; Tricyclic antidepressants like
Amitryptyline, Nortryptyline; Anticonvulsants like Carbamzepine,
Gabapentin etc.
These are all prescription medications. Therefore, I suggest you to visit a
dermatologist for a review and appropriate prescription.
