How Can High BP While Suffering From Rheumatoid Arthritis Be Treated?

I have severe rheumatoid arthritis. I am taking Methotrexate 8 2.5 mg weekly. I was taking 2 7.5 meloxicam tablets twice a day plus 1 5mg prednisone daily. Recently, my blood pressure has spiked as high as 175/110. My doctor wants me to stop taking meloxicam and prednisone and i have stopped it 6 days ago and now I am in intense pain. Can i restart one of these medications safely

175/110 is a very high value for blood pressure. I would have been concerned if my patient has that readings. Both meloxicam and prednisone can contribute to the increase in the blood pressure.
Rather than restarting, I would suggest a monoclonal antibody called adalimumab for control of rheumatoid arthritis symptoms. It can be used with methotrexate and does not interfere much with blood pressure.
Hope you are maintaining the blood pressure. Do maintain a log of regular blood pressure measurements and take medications if instructed.
You can discuss the above options with your rheumatologist. Hope this helps you. Thank you very much.
