How Can High Blood Pressure Be Treated While Suffering From Gout?
I have high blood pressure 145/70-80 I have been prescribed triamaterine (spelling?) and have taken it for years. I have developed gout, which my doctor tells me is caused by triamaterine, not my diet as I do not ear a lot of red meat nor do I drink very often. Is there a med that I can take for the high bp that will not cause gout?I am 5 0 and weigh 138lbs.
Triameterine is a loop diueritc and yes they increase the uric acid level though not for sure.
There is a lot of medicine that can be used for BP that doesn't cause gout. Among them, Zosartan is a drug that is quite useful in gout. Because it lowers BP as well as uric acid. So talk to your doctor in this regards.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
