Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am very worried about my blood pressure. I have been taking it regularly since I moved to Colorado, and it is 154 over 94 with pulse at around 80. The Dr. I have in Oregon has changed my meds, but now it seems to be getting worse. I went to a Dr. here in Co. and he said it was not that high. I have been through quite a stressful summer, but it should be coming down by now. I am now taking 5mg. of Amlodipine Besylate. I am 81 yrs old. What do you suggest I do. Can I double up on the meds?
After going through your query I understand your concern.
I would like to tell you that blood pressure more than 140/90 is considered as high blood pressure that needs to be treated to avoid further complication of high blood pressure.Your BP is not that high and can be easily controlled with 5mg of Amlodipin so do not increase the dose on your own until unless your blood pressure ranges under 140/90 mmHg.
Continue to check you blood pressure and note it down and consult with your Physician in Colorado if it goes high and let him decide if you need higher dose of Amlodipine or coadministration of new drug.
Hope to have been Helpful.
Kind Regards Dr. Navneet Bansal
