How Can High Fever Along With Body Ache And Vomiting Be Treated?

67 year old male with 101.8 fever, coughing up phlegm, wracking cough, body aches, nasal drainage, body aches. Has had a flu shot. Had bronchitis in December, recovered. Vomited just now. We ve been treating with OTC preparations such as Dayquil and Nyquil to control symptoms, but now the fever and vomiting is new. Any treatments we should try?

High fever and cough with phlegm are the common signs of the lower respiratory tract involvement. It could be either pneumonia or acute bronchitis. You should visit the hospital to be diagnosed and appropriately treated.

You may need blood tests and chest x-ray. According to the test results, your Doctor may be prescribed antibiotics.

Vomiting is a non-specific sign which can happen in a common cold, bronchitis or in pneumonia. Dayquil and Nyquil drugs can be used to control common cold and flu symptoms with mild fever.
