General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Yes, it is time to go to the hospital. A fever with the chronic cough could indicate a lung infection.

I recommend you:
- An urgent physician consults
- A chest x-ray. A CT scan may be required
- Blood tests (complete blood count, kidney an deliver function tests)
- A blood and sputum culture
- Specific blood tests to check for certain infections

Based on these we can find out what's going on and treated appropriately. Please see your doctor as soon as possible. Keep her well hydrated (if not medically contraindicated).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shuba Hariprasad
