How Can High Fever Be Treated?

How can I reduce a fever? I am 59, in good health, I received z-pac yesterday for bronchitis and I have been taking ibuprofen for the fever. I laid down a couple of hours ago and my temp was 100. I was chilly so I put a comforter on and got very hot but I was not sweating. I got up and took my temp and it was 102.4. I am now sitting on a sofa drinking water and have a couple of cold packs on my back. My temp is now 101.6, is there anything else I should be doing?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I suggest you alternate the anti-inflammatory medication every four hours. You can use acetaminophen and ibuprofen. I recommend drinking liquids and rest.

Use light clothing, keep the room temperature cool and sleep with only a sheet or light blanket.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
