How Can High Fever Be Treated?

My grandson has had a temp for 3 days. Today is the worst of 103.8. Gave him advil. He is miserable. No other symptoms but a tummy ache. Last week had a lower temp and went to the pediatrician. He had strep and just finished anti-biotic for that (amoxocilan) Sorry about the spelling. I have a call into his doctor now but am very worried about this temp Please advise.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

A temperature of 103 is quite high and needs immediate treatment. I would advise you to consult his pediatrician as soon as possible.

He may need a blood test done to know whether it is a bacterial or a viral infection. Meanwhile, you should give him syrup Paracetamol and do tepid sponging to bring down his temperature.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma Amman
