How Can High Fever In A Toddler Be Treated?

My 3 Year old son has had a fever 103.00 as of last night. I get it to break with IBU but then the fever returns after about 5-6 hours. He is now showing a temporal temp. of 104.0 1st reading and 103.5 second reading. He has a slight cough and complaints of a headache last night. Should I contact urgent care and have him checked?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I evaluated your concern regarding your child in details. This suggests respiratory tract infection with this high grade pyrexia. Consult an ER with pediatrician to fix the diagnosis and further management accordingly till then can do tepid sponging with cold water which would be helpful to some extent.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel
