How Can High Fever In An Infant Be Treated?

My 14 month old grandson has ran a fever for the last several days. It is a constant fight to keep it under 104. He has lymph nodes that are a little swollen in the groin area. We have had him at the ER and have been told that as long as we can keep getting it down, all is ok. He is weak, not playing. He is drinking, but not eating. Is this a normal occurrence?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi my dear

I am sorry for the health problems your 14 months old grandson is going through.

Fever accompanied by swollen lumph nodes in the groin area are signs of possible infection of the genitals at his age.

So, I highly recommend to go back to his pediatrician and ask to get his genitals checked and run urine analysis to rule them out.

Meanwhile, keep him wellhydrated and monitor his temperature regularly.

Wish fast recovery.
