Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I and my cardiologist think my hormones may be out of balance. Thyroid and testosterone (very low) and may be pre-diabetic. My weight has increased almost 40 lbs in last two years and my eating / drinking habits have not changed. Thinking that an endocrinologist appointment to see if my hormones are out of balance is correct path. Your thoughts?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Hypothyroidism might have caused weight gain. As both thyroid and testosterone are on lower side, detailed evaluation is needed to find out the cause. Abnormalities or diseases of pituitary gland may cause decreased secretion of multiple hormones. It will be better to consult an endocrinologist for expert opinion. You might require an MRI scan for further evaluation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
